At Thousand Oaks Dental, we’d like to wish you a very happy Independence Day on July 4th. How do you usually celebrate on July 4th? We hope your day is filled with many friends, family, and yummy foods! Celebrating this day in the United States is an important thing. It’s a way to remember and be grateful for our independence as a nation.
Dr. Thompson would also like to offer you a way be grateful for your teeth. By caring for them through preventative treatments you can declare your family’s desire to be free from cavities and tooth decay.
One such preventative treatment that we offer are dental sealants. When your child’s teeth are forming, depressions and grooves form in the chewing surfaces of their enamel. These deep areas are almost impossible to keep clean. Toothbrush bristles cannot reach into these areas. Therefore, these deep fissures create areas that plaque and bits of food hide.
Dental sealants are easy to apply. The teeth will be cleaned and then they will be roughened to help the sealant adhere to the teeth. Lastly, the sealant is brushed on the tooth enamel and given time to harden. Dental sealants are most common for children, however adults can also be at risk for pit and fissure decay and be a candidate for sealants as well.
The American Dental Association recognizes that sealants can help prevent tooth decay. Dr. Thompson and her team at Thousand Oaks Dental would love to discuss dental sealants and our other preventative dental treatments that are available to you. Call and book your appointment with us today. We’re looking forward to seeing you.
